About the Recipe

Ingredients
Apple Filling
1 medium apple
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Walnut Crumble
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter, cold and diced
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons Valley Grown walnuts, chopped
2 tablespoons rolled oats
For Serving
Vanilla ice cream, optional
Caramel sauce, optional
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Peel and core the apple, then cut it into approximately 1-inch cubes.
In a small bowl, combine the diced apple, brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Divide the apple mixture evenly between two small ramekins. Gently press the apples down so there are no large gaps.
To make the crumble topping, combine the flour, brown sugar, cold butter and cinnamon in a separate bowl. Use your fingertips to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly.
Add the chopped Valley Grown walnuts and rolled oats. Mix until evenly incorporated. The mixture should resemble coarse, damp crumbs.
Divide the crumble evenly over the apple filling in each ramekin.
Bake on the middle rack for 20–25 minutes, or until the apple filling is bubbling around the edges and the crumble is golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 5 minutes.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired.
